Elements of Competency Performance Criteria
Element: Determine solid modelling requirements
  • Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and comply with work health and safety (WHS) requirements at all times
  • Check purpose, scope and information requirements for modelling task
  • Interpret available information relevant to job requirements, and identify and address further information needs
  • Identify and prepare resources required to complete work
  • Identify and consult with appropriate personnel

Element: Prepare 3D environment
  • Apply workplace procedures to retrieve and manipulate required information and navigate computing technology
  • Set up a 3D environment to allow multiple viewing
  • Create 3D views on the screen by manipulating drawing planes and inserting 3D geometric shapes
  • Establish work planes and orientation according to job requirements
  • Determine and exploit key features of solid modelling software package

Element: Produce output from 3D model
  • Perform drawing for solid modelling
  • Exploit features of modelling software to improve productivity
  • Extract physical properties to job requirements, including volume, mass and centre of gravity
  • Apply rendering techniques
  • Produce 3D drawings incorporating section views with all necessary annotation

Element: Complete CAD operations
  • Confirm model accurately reflects specifications, is presented according to work requirements and contains all relevant information
  • Evaluate work and identify areas for improvement
  • Close applications, perform CAD housekeeping and maintain organisational filing system in accordance with SOPs

Submission Requirements

List each assessment task's title, type (eg project, observation/demonstration, essay, assignment, checklist) and due date here

Assessment task 1: [title]      Due date:

(add new lines for each of the assessment tasks)

Assessment Tasks

Copy and paste from the following data to produce each assessment task. Write these in plain English and spell out how, when and where the task is to be carried out, under what conditions, and what resources are needed. Include guidelines about how well the candidate has to perform a task for it to be judged satisfactory.
Copy and paste from the following performance criteria to create an observation checklist for each task. When you have finished writing your assessment tool every one of these must have been addressed, preferably several times in a variety of contexts. To ensure this occurs download the assessment matrix for the unit; enter each assessment task as a column header and place check marks against each performance criteria that task addresses.
